Introduction
Dr. Swaroop Venugopal is an accomplished Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with over 10 years of experience specializing in trauma, hand injuries, burns, and onco-reconstructive plastic surgery. He completed his MBBS from PSG Institute of Medical Science & Research, followed by an MS in General Surgery and MCh in Hand, Reconstructive, and Plastic Surgery from the Institute of Research and Rehabilitation of Hand and the Department of Plastic Surgery at Stanley Government Medical College Hospital. He is a proud member of the Tamil Nadu Association of Plastic Surgeons, All India Association of Plastic Surgeons, and the Indian Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery Association.
Dr. Swaroop has worked as a consultant in KMCH Sulur, Kovil Palayam, and Aster Group of Hospitals in Kerala, gaining expertise in treating complex traumatic injuries and diabetic wounds. He has successfully performed over 5000 surgeries and is committed to using the latest surgical techniques to provide the best possible care, adhering to international standards. His diverse experience also includes cosmetic surgeries, making him a well-rounded specialist in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.
PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
- 25 successful replantation of severed fingers and limbs as an independent consultant.
- Highest number of Free Superficial Circumflex Iliac Artery Perforator (SCIP) flaps performed in Tamil Nadu.
- State Government award for the first successful bilateral hand transplant in Tamil Nadu and the first to be done in a government hospital (Stanley Medical College Hospital, 2018). He was part of the core team involved in harvesting the donor hand and recipient transplant, and managing pre-op, intra-op, and post-op rehabilitation.
- Gold Medal for Best Paper in TANPAPS (TN Plastic Surgeons Conference) held in Ooty, 2018.
